The Killers To Play Grand Opening Concert at New Arena

Big news came out this morning that The Killers will be opening up the Wisconsin Sports and Entertainment Center as the first concert at the new arena. This is great news. They will have Milwaukee-based The Violent Femmes open for the Las Vegas-based band. As someone who is a Killers fan and saw them last summer at The Rave, I’m fired up to see they’re coming back and going to the new arena. The date isn’t great considering it’s the day after Labor Day, but we can extend summer by one more day, right?
I’m curious to hear how this concert will be different to the one at The Rave. I’m not really a fan of seeing a show at The Rave (Acoustics suck so much there) , but this show kicked so much ass. They played all of the hits and only a couple of their new songs. Their latest album had not been out yet, so, they stuck to rolling out the hits as this was the kickoff of their return shows before heading to Lollapalooza over the weekend. I loved every minute of it.
I’m trying to think about what my Mount Rushmore of The Killers’ songs would be… ‘All The Things I’ve Done.’ “Somebody Told Me’ ‘Spaceman’ and ‘When We Were Young.’. Yes, I’m leaving out ‘Mr. Brightside.’ I do love that song, but I feel like it’s a North Carolina-Duke thing with ‘Somebody Told Me’ and ‘Mr. Brightside.’ You have to choose a side as they’re both massive hits.
Charlie.
