For the longest time in college football, SEC was the king of the conferences. Much of that is due to Alabama being a juggernaut. They’re one of the best dynasties in the history of sports. It’s helped Bama that teams like Georgia, LSU and others that have participated in the College Football Playoff. Alabama and Georgia were the two best teams in college football last year. But it’s extremely top-heavy and people fail to recognize this every Fall. This is the Big Ten’s time to shine, and they need to finish with a national championship.

Big Ten has five teams in the preseason top 15 coaches polls. Ohio State is in the top five and pending on what happens with the Urban Meyer scandal, they’re a favorite to win the National Championship. Wisconsin is there at number seven. Badgers have their best offense in recent history led by Alex Hornibrook, a Heisman-favorite running back and an underrated wide receiving core. Penn State is in the top ten too. They’re a damn good football team even without Saquon Barkley. Trace McSorley is a great villain. Michigan State is sitting there at 12 hanging in the wind like the Spartans have done for years.

Don’t sleep on teams like Iowa, Northwestern, Minnesota who are all emerging as teams that could cause some drama. Nebraska might be a year away, but Scott Frost is building a real winner there. That’s a guarantee. Big Ten should be running the roost, but they have to finish. They need a national championship this year. If Alabama comes in and wins again, the same thing will happen again. ‘Oh the Big Ten is deep but SEC has the best team.’ We’ll hear that over and over again. This is the year to dethrone the SEC with how deep the Big Ten is this season.
