Za’Darius Smith Announces He’s Back For Week 1!!
Za’Darius Smith has not played or practiced all training camp. Smith reinjured his back that was giving trouble this offseason and that kept him out. The frustration set in with Matt LaFleur that Smith didn’t take care of his body well enough this offseason. Regardless, it doesn’t matter because Smith is returning to the Packers for Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints. This is a huge boost to Green Bay’s pass-rushing attack. They’re only going to be better, and for a quarterback starting his first game in two years, Jameis Winston, this cannot be a fun realization.

My guess is that Za’Darius will probably need about a half to feel comfortable in the new system. New defensive coordinator Joe Berry will likely not punish Smith for not playing all August. It is not like this is a holdout situation. Smith has been there. He just hasn’t been practicing. Most of the faces on the front seven are veterans who have played with Z before. He will likely get up and running for this one on Sunday. He will look to have a big game in Week 1.
Remember last year against New Orleans, Smith recovered a huge fourth-quarter fumble that flipped the game for the Packers. Let’s hope he does the same again.
