Milwaukee Brewers returned home Monday to face a familiar foe in the Arizona Diamondbacks. These two teams faced off last Monday in the desert, and now, they’re back at Miller Park. The only win Arizona had in its last 10 games was Zack Greinke’s dazzling outing last Tuesday night versus the Brewers. History did not repeat itself last night. Brewers notched a 4-2 victory thanks in large part to three home runs by Travis Shaw, Lorenzo Cain and Domingo Santana providing all of the offense needed for the Brewers to win their 8th game in their last 11.

Player of the Game: Lorenzo Cain -> Pretty good way to start the homestand if you’re Lo Cain. He led off Monday’s game with a single and scored on Shaw’s first inning home run. Then he smashed a 418 ft bomb to give the Brewers a little breathing room after Jake Lamb hit a solo shot in the half inning before him. Cain continues to be one of the best parts of this Brewers team. It’s a great feeling to have a dynamic leadoff hitter.

Silver Star: Chase Anderson -> You know, it did not start off well for Chase, but he finished alright. Anderson walked in a run to start the game but got himself out of the jam after being down 1-0. He settled in after that and pitched well minus the homer to Lamb. We’ll see if this is the turnaround for him. Last season, we started to really see Chase shine around this time of year before he had an oblique injury.

Honorable Mention: Jeremy Jeffress’ music choice -> I was at Miller Park yesterday, and there are some things you get to hear for yourself like the intro/walkup music. The best one of the night was Jeremy Jeffress coming out to Lil Wayne’s ‘Fireman.’ It’s a forgotten tune on Wayne’s discography, but a good one for a dominating bullpen pitcher. Love the fact, it’s the complete intro with the ‘Shh.. Tha fireman’s comin’ with the sirens blaring.

Next up: Milwaukee and Arizona get Game 2 underway with Jhouyls Chacin taking on Matt Koch. Now, Chacin was great in his last start versus Arizona, but you do worry about a pitcher seeing the same team. It tends to favor the offense. Same could be said for Arizona as Matt Koch gets the ball for the D’Backs. Milwaukee tattooed the young righty, and now the humidor is gone. Could be a wild night at Miller Park.
