Milwaukee Brewers do not make sense. There is no rhyme or reason for what the Brewers do regularly. After exploding for 19 runs last Wednesday afternoon, Milwaukee has been less than stellar at the plate. In that time frame, they went 2-3. Milwaukee followed up their 19 run effort last Wednesday with an 18 run effort on Tuesday evening. Milwaukee continues to defy logic in this bizarre baseball season. It is fun to beat up on the Cardinals winning 18-3. While I want to believe that this is the start of some epic hot streak, I know I’m setting myself up for failure.

Player of the Game: Christian Yelich – In the category of not setting myself up, Christian Yelich getting hot is one of those things I’ve heard about this year but haven’t seen it. Yelich isn’t having a good year. But you and I both know that could change any instant. Was last night the start of something special for Yelich? We’ll have to wait and see. That answer will not be known to us until probably Friday or Saturday.

Honorable Mention: Dan Vogelbach – Our guy Danny Doublecheese got it done yesterday. He had three hits, four runs scored and his first home run as a Brewer. Vogelbach came to the Brewers hitting.088. During his time with Milwaukee, he hitting .462. While they’re completely different in size, Vogelbach and Brock Holt are very similar. Awful start to the season then a change of scenery plus more playing time equals success. Good to see double cheese doing big things.

One thing to like: Brewers got rolling early – Milwaukee only had five first-inning runs before last night. With the back-to-back home runs by Christian Yelich and Ryan Braun, they have upped that to seven. My dad has a thing about the ‘law of large numbers’ where if something is completely off either in positive or negative, it will swing back to even out at some point. Let’s hope that’s what’s happening with the Brewers and the first inning.

Next up: Doubleheader round two. After a contentious Tuesday night, Brewers and Cardinals get ready to play two again. Brandon Woodruff gets the ball early against Adam Wainright. Woodruff was great against St. Louis last year and hopes to continue that this year. Wainright has always been tough versus the Crew but struggled at Miller Park last year in his one start. In Game 2, the Cardinals haven’t announced a starter yet and Brent Suter goes for the Crew.
