Brewers Send Fightin’ Words To Cubs Over Rain Delay
I regret to inform you all that the bad boy Brewers are officially back. When Milwaukee is at their best over Yost, Roenicke and now Counsell, they played with an edge about them. It’s only a matter of time before a team gets mad at Brewers ‘antics’ on the field because they do play with some bravado, but that’s not what happened between Brewers-Cubs this weekend. Rather, Craig Counsell and David Sterns both took shots at Cubs for their rain delay on Saturday as weather cleared up in the afternoon. I’m not sure I can love this any more than I already do. Brewers are saying Cubs were scared to play a red-hot Milwaukee team.
Asked for his theory on why Cubs postponed game, Counsell said, "They know what’s going on, so the theory should come from them."

One last comment from Stearns on Weathergate: "If there were other reasons the game was called, that’s something that MLB should look into."

Brewers are clearly pissed and I don’t blame them. A rain delay can slow a team down, or let a team get their shit together. The last thing Milwaukee wants to do is slow down. They’ve won four straight games and 10 of their last 12. If they lose today, it’s still a 4-2 road trip which is fantastic. If they win, they go 5-1 and head home to an excited fan base (Fans will still be fired up if they lose today). Counsell’s comments could be the flame that reignites Cubs-Brewers rivalry. I do think the Eric Thames comments in April bothered this bunch, and everyone carried a big stick, yet this could be the start of something between the two teams
I love Brewers laying down the challenge of the rain delay and say ‘We’re not afraid you or your fucking World Series trophy.’ Hope Brewers find a way to piss off every division opponent at some point this summer.
Charlie.
