Bucks Buzz: Milwaukee Ends Toronto’s Night Early
Milwaukee Bucks are a wagon. You know that I know that. But it is worth saying again for the people. Milwaukee Bucks were up 64-39 at halftime of their Game 2 against the Toronto Raptors. We said after Game 1 that if the Raptors could not beat the Bucks when they played their worst game of the playoffs then they’re probably in trouble. That proved to be true. Bucks won the game wire-to-wire starting the game off on a 9-0 run, and they never looked back. Giannis and the bench mob led the way. Milwaukee is now two wins away from the NBA Finals. Unbelievable.
Player of the Game: Giannis Antetokounmmpo – The man came through with a huge performance in Game 2. He scored 30 points, 17 rebounds, and five assists. Anetokounmpo played strong from the start of the game until the very end. Toronto tried throwing the kitchen sink at Giannis, and it did not matter at all. Pascal Siakam found himself in foul trouble throughout the game along with anyone else that tried to guard Antetokounmpo. For the second straight series, Antetokounmpo found a way to adjust after a tough Game 1.
Silver Star: Ersan Ilyasova – Man, what a moment for Ersan. Remember how many people freaked out when Milwaukee made the midnight signing for him? Sure, the three years might have been a bad idea, but he became a core piece of Mike Budenholzer’s system. Bud obviously knew that Ersan was one of his guys from their time in Atlanta. Ilyasova lit it up in the first half with 14 points then added a couple more points in the second half finishing up with 17 points. Ilyasova carried Milwaukee in the first half.
The Thing I Liked: Bucks other guys propelled Milwaukee in the first half – Ilyasova wasn’t the only one with a big first half. Malcolm Brogdon and Nikola Mirotic also contributed double-digit scoring in the first half. They were all special in their own way. This is when Milwaukee looks like an elite basketball team. Khris Middleton scored a grand total of 22 points in the last two games, and Bucks have won both. This isn’t an indictment on Middleton, rather, how much these other guys have been dominating.
The Thing I Didn’t Like: Guards are continuing to struggle – Bledsoe and Middleton turned in another bad effort on Friday night. Bledsoe did not score double-digits for the second straight game. Middleton scored low double-digits for the second straight game. At some point, they’re going to need to wake up a little bit. Middleton struggled with Kawhi Leonard all year, but Bledsoe needs to keep attacking versus shooting threes.
The Highlight of the Night: Giannis sends the tone.

Next up – Milwaukee goes to Toronto on Sunday night. They were 2-0 when playing the Raptors in the North this season. It is not a place that I believe scares this basketball team. The Bucks are undefeated on the road thus far in the playoffs. We’ll see if they can keep it up on Sunday night.
