Bucks Buzz: Second Half Surge Leads to Bucks Sweep
Milwaukee Bucks did it again. They were trailing in the first half, more than they were in Game 2 against the Detroit Pistons. Then the second half came for Milwaukee. It is funny to see the Bucks do this after they used to have so many problems in the third quarter when teams made adjustments. Bucks scored 39 points in the third quarter outscoring Detroit by 16 then they outscored Detroit by 13 in the fourth quarter. Overall in the second half, Milwaukee beat Detroit, 71-42. That is absolutely domination. I understand this is the Pistons, not one of the better teams in the NBA, but still, this is ridiculous.
Player of the Game: Giannis Antetokounmpo – What a game from the Greek Freak. On Saturday, he struggled and people freaked out for some fucking reason that he was tired or fatigued. We talked about a little bit more about this on the podcast yesterday if you’re interested. Antetokounmpo scored a playoff-high 41 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in a virtuoso performance. No one could actually stop him. Reggie Miller talked in astonishment about how Detroit threw seven different guys at him, and it still did not work at all.
Silver Star: Sterling Brown – Um did you see his stat line tonight? The second-year Bucks guard came damn close to a triple-double last night. He scored nine points, 13 rebounds and six assists. That is a damn impressive box score for Brown. Even if it is Detroit, Sterling shows how he belongs in playoff basketball environment. Brown does all of the little things. There isn’t a rebound or assist he doesn’t want to make out there. Also, he doesn’t put up with shit. If you want to rate which player will get on Boston’s fans nerves, Ersan Ilyasova and Brown are at the top of the list.
Positive & Negative: Bucks did a great job getting to the line… But you have to convert – Here’s the thing, I loved the fact Milwaukee ended up at the free throw line 41 times yesterday. That is an eye-popping number. Partly, this happened due to Dwane Casey throwing out the kitchen sink and trying to muddy up the game. It didn’t work as the refs called it close, but Bucks drew contact repeatedly. But they cannot miss 10 free throws in a playoff game. It didn’t matter tonight but down the road, it could be a factor.
Highlight of the Night: Giannis double-pump is amazing.
Next up: Bucks will play Boston on either Saturday or Sunday at the Fiserv Forum. I am hoping for a Saturday game for reasons that should be obvious. It will be a wild crowd either way, but the Saturday crowd will be unhinged especially during the midday. These fans are ready for war against Boston, and it’s going to be an awesome fucking series.
Charlie.
