Cardinals Announcers Leave Booth After Mets Walk It Off

There is nothing better than seeing one of your rivals lose. I don’t care the sport. When a rival loses, it makes you feel better especially when your team isn’t playing. So yesterday in the baseball world, I was cheering against the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals yet more so, the Cardinals since they’re directly competing with the Milwaukee Brewers. Cardinals battled back against the Mets to tie up the game and sent the game to extras. In extras, St. Louis grabbed the lead, but in the bottom of the 10th, Pete Alonso ended with a homer. This caused the broadcasters for the Cardinals to end their broadcast immediately.

Listen, the home broadcast is always going to be a little bit on the home side. They’re either employed by the team or the team has a say on what goes on. That said, I can’t recall many that would stop talking to let the Mets celebrate after a clear frustrated home run call from the opposition. My Twitter follower Brian mentioned Hawk Harrelson. Back in the day before he was mean to the LGBTQ community, Thom Brennaman would be salty as hell when a team was not named the Reds homer. All of these examples are in the Midwest so maybe it’s a Midwest thing?
Despite losing three of four to the Mets, the Cardinals are still in the Wild Card hunt and only four back of the Milwaukee Brewers for first place in the division. There is a long way to go before anyone can get to up or down about what happening in the standings. Most of the time what the standings look like in May do not represent what they look like in October.
