DeMarcus Cousins Traded to New Orleans For NOTHING

Unbelievable. Not more than a few hours after the All-Star Game, Sacramento Kings traded DeMarcus ‘Boogie’ Cousins for Buddy Hield, Langston Galloway, Tyreke Evans, a first and second rounder in 2017 then a first rounder in 2019 in one of the worst trades in NBA history. Absolutely stunning move by Sacramento Kings. It’s like they saw what happened with New York Knicks last week with Charles Oakley and said ‘Hold my beer’ and did one better. This is a franchise-altering move for both Kings and Pelicans. One team is significantly better with new signs of life while the other is looking for answers again.
Cousins teaming up with his former Kentucky teammate Anthony Davis is going to be awesome to watch. Cousins and Davis are as feared of a big men duo as anyone in the league. It’s hard to remember two elite big men playing together in their prime. Crazy thing is I think this can fucking work. I’m not sure if it’s my love for Boogie, but I really believe these guys can do it. Davis is a mild-mannered dude who can handle Cousins and his attitude. Alvin Gentry is not a great coach, but he’s the type of players-coach that could work well for him. However for Gentry’s sake, the John Calipari rumors will hover like an annoying pest all of this season and into the summer. New Orleans has zero wings, but a solid point guard in Jrue Holiday giving them a playoff-ready big three.
I pour one out for Kings fans. I’m not sure what I’d do in this scenario. Probably get absurdly drunk and hope for the best. Kings lottery hopes aren’t the best even if the bottom falls out. Brooklyn is going to have the most lottery balls, and Los Angeles is doing their damnedest to be second. They’re sitting at 11 right now. And while they’re protected probably from Chicago stealing their pick, Philadelphia is looming like a creature in the night. If Sacramento gets a better pick than Sixers, they can swap it making it more maddening. Kings are going through a deep rebuild looking for a star when they had one all along.
I’m excited for another Golden State-New Orleans series with Boogie and Davis coming at their head every game in the playoffs. It’s going to be exciting. Kings and Pelicans meet on March 31st in the NOLA.
Charlie.
