When a baseball brawl happens, it’s customary that the catcher of the pitcher who threw at the batter is suppose to hold the batter back or at least try to. San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey did not do that. Rather, he stood there and let Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper charge the mound to bull rush Hunter Strickland. Posey takes his sweet time getting over them with the fight starts spilling over. This is a fine move by me for Giants catcher even if some see it as being a bad teammate.

Posey likely knew that Hunter Strickland would throw at Harper. Catchers talk with pitchers all the time, and I’m sure Strickland brought this up on one occasion. I’m sure Posey tried to talk him out of it, but obviously, that was unsuccessful. Coming to the aid of a pitcher who is a candy ass for being mad about a three-year home run is not needed. It’s like letting your buddy fight someone at the bar over an unresolved conflict from two years ago. Sometimes, it’s his or her fight to lose. Only when it gets intense should you try and split it up. Giants star had every right to take precaution before heading into the mess.

Let’s also not forget that Posey dealt with a pretty serious concussion two or three years back as a Miami Marlins player rammed right into him. My guess is a part of the thought process had to do with he didn’t want to risk a chance of getting knocked out again. That’s a wise business decision. I don’t think it would have happened, but you never know. It’s better to be safe than sorry in that situation. He confirmed this reasoning to reporters after the game.

People want to make him out to be the bad guy, but let’s remember who fucking started it. Strickland, an idiot pitcher who has an ego issue, trying to make it about a series that the GIANTS WON. Oh by the way, Giants won the World Series that year. Get over yourself, dude.
