Drew Brees Gets Dunked On By Multiple Packers Players

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees did not read the room. When asked about if protests of the National Anthem will start again, Brees talked about not ‘disrespecting the flag’ and pointed to his grandfathers that won world wars. This drew ire. It is not the time for Brees to talk about said things. Right now, there is a nation grieving with people who got their rights as Americans violated. Brees should have avoided the question or sidestepped it. Brees has been in the league long enough to know how to handle it. Packers players spoke out against Brees’ commentary.
- Kevin King went on a long discussion about a variety of topics including Black Lives Matter and the Brees topic.
- Za’Darius Smith posted a screenshot of the Packers’ Week 3 game against the New Orleans Saints.
- Will Redmond did not like it either and like Smith, it appears he is excited to play him in late September.
- Aaron Rodgers didn’t call out Brees by name but it was implied from his commentary as well posting the picture of the Packers’ players locked arms in unity.
I’m confident that Brees will release a message that looks entirely different today. The blowback was severe. Do I think it’s partly due to not having sports going on? Yes, probably But does that matter? I said a few years ago that it’s never about the flag. I didn’t understand why that was so hard for people to understand. There are people that do not like America because they feel like states, cities, our country shit on them for years and years. Anthem protests are not new. They’ve been happening for a long time. But what is new is social media and it amplifies everything.
Good on the Packers’ players for speaking their minds and that 9/27 game got a lot more interesting.
