Wisconsin’s Governor Tony Evens announced that the ‘Stay at Home’ rules will extend to May 26th. Evers did loosen up on a few things including golf. Golf is coming back with all of the social distancing rules applied to it. They’re not including carts in the mix, so get your pushcarts ready if you want to play on the course. This is a big development for those looking for more outdoor activities and trying to get away from home. Many wondered why golf made it on the ban list originally, but with how the weather has been in April, they would be playing in Open Championship conditions.

I’m curious to see how golf courses will be able to apply social distancing. God knows there will be someone that throws something on Twitter that will be shaming people for golfing because that’s how Twitter works. The more expensive courses will likely not have any issues, but I worry about the public Milwaukee county courses like Brown Deer, Curry, and others. The influx of people will truly weather dependent. If it gets warm outside, there could be some overflows.

I did want to add a comment about Evers extending for an additional six weeks. We don’t do politics, and while I am deeply invested in the handling of COVID-19, I’m going to try and limit what I say about this topic. There will be a fight happening between Evers and legislature in the coming days and weeks. Evers can only have a state emergency for 60 days then on May 11th, it will run out. Predicting things during this time is dumb, but what would not surprise me is if Evers saw numbers of hospitalizations, deaths and increased testing, he might remove it by May 11th.

I saw the federal plan advising the governors on how to approach it with a tiered plan. What is lost in this conversation is how the federal plan will be used by Wisconsin. Are they planning to follow that? The other big thing brewing is the Milwaukee-Madison-Green Bay vs. Rest of Wisconsin. I have zero idea on how they figure that out and even if you loosen up in other counties, how do you prevent others from coming to that county?
