Happy Brewers’ Playoff Day! Let’s Start It With Tony Plush

Yesterday marked the 10-year anniversary of Nyjer Morgan hitting a walk-off base hit to put the Milwaukee Brewers through to the NLCS. I can vividly remember where I was for that game and all that transpired before and after. For some reason, I ended up being the only at my apartment (Lived with two other guys at the time). I ended up glued to our recliner hanging on every pitch. I didn’t turn on the lights even as it’s getting dark because it might change momentum. That kicked off an awesome homecoming weekend. 2011 was special because it is the first one of the Brewers’ illustrious playoff runs.
There is something awesome about your first true playoff experience. Yes, it ended poorly with the St. Louis Cardinals kicking the shit out of the Brewers in the next round. But it was still memorable. Just like the 2018 run where Milwaukee made it again to the NLCS and came to the cusp of making it back to the World Series for the first time since 1982. The 2019 and 2020 stints are not worth talking about. So here were are with 2021 with a chance again to make it back to the grand stage in October.
Part of me feels like something special is in the air. I’m not sure if it is the Milwaukee Bucks winning a championship or something else. But it just feels like this team is destined to go beyond the championship series. It will not be easy. The Atlanta Braves are a tough opponent then whoever is waiting, Los Angeles or San Francisco, they’re pretty tough too. That said, I’m ready to enjoy whatever comes my way in October. In a weird way, we’re playing with house money.
Go Brewers.
Charlie.
