Headline Predictions For Bucks’ Eight Games in Orlando

Milwaukee Bucks are headed to Orlando in the coming weeks. They’re going to self-isolate and begin the process of the new normal down in Florida. Bucks’ schedule came out on Friday. The schedule itself features a lot of premier games that shouldn’t surprise anyone. All of these teams were on Milwaukee’s schedule, and there is no situation where Bucks are playing a team twice. Our podcast, The Daily Tap, covered how much these games actually matter. But what might be the headline of these eight games?
#Bucks full 8 game schedule…
7/31 vs. BOS
8/2 vs. HOU
8/4 vs Brooklyn
8/6 vs. MIA
8/8 vs. DAL
8/10 vs. TOR
8/11 vs. Wash
8/13 vs. MEM— Tony Cartagena (@TonyCartagena) June 26, 2020
Game 1: Boston – Conference championship preview?: Many people believe the Celtics are going to be the team out of the Eastern Conference. It is a pure try-hard move, but many believe that. Celtics-Bucks could be billed a conference championship preview. It could also have billing of the budding Giannis Antetokounmpo-Jayson Tatum rivalry. My guess is Giannis hasn’t forgotten about what Tatum said.
Game 2: Houston – Giannis vs. Harden: This one is simple. The two MVPs going at it on Sunday night. James Harden ran his mouth about Antetokounmpo before the quarantine happened. I can guarantee you that Giannis did not forget about it. Bucks’ defense is one that puzzles Houston regularly.
Game 3: Brooklyn – First round preview?: Right now, the Bucks are slated to play the Orlando Magic if the playoffs started when everyone got to Orlando. Currently, the Nets are a half-game up on Orlando for the seventh seed. Nets haven’t had much success against Milwaukee since Budenholzer took over. Bucks have won 13 of their last 15 against Brooklyn.
Game 4: Miami – Do the Heat have Milwaukee’s number?: People will make a big deal out of the Bucks losing two games to the Heat this season. If we’re in the trust tree, this is probably the game I care about the most. If they lose a third time to Miami, questions have to be asked. This will have a playoff atmosphere.
Game 5: Dallas – Giannis vs. Luka, the next great rivalry: This is another discussion for another time, but have you noticed how NBA media does that about Giannis vs. Luka? Both guys get a fair share of love but never talk of a rivalry per se. The other headline is Milwaukee will be looking to avenge an earlier loss this season.
Game 6: Toronto – This is Giannis’ version of the Pistons: Remember how Michael Jordan couldn’t beat Detroit in the playoffs? Giannis went 0-2 against Toronto thus far. A matchup with the Raptors could be looming again in the Eastern Conference Finals. Nick Nurse is the best coach in the game which is why that matchup worries me more than Boston. Although Jordan had to get through Detroit in order to be a championship
Game 7: Washington – Load management in Orlando: Wizards will likely be eliminated by this point. Bucks have no need for this game, so they’ll likely be on ice too. Don’t expect much from this one.
Game 8: Memphis – Can the Grizzlies hold on to their eight seed?: Who knows what the Western Conference playoff chase will look like by the final game of the season, but Memphis might need to win in order to avoid the play-in tournament. Bucks will be on cruise control by then.
I cannot wait for things to start again in about a month from now.
