LaVar Ball’s Silly Racist Quote Is So Dumb
As you know, I’ve given up on trying to write about LaVar Ball. It’s pointless because everything is a headline, and he’s the golden child of sports SEO. Some of you would wonder ‘Well wouldn’t you want to take advantage of that?’ The thing is I do, but also, I’m sure my audience is sick of my stance on him. Y’all know I think he’s a fucking clown, and once again, Ball shows his ass with talking about why UCLA lost in the Sweet 16. Lonzo didn’t lose, the white guys did. Peep what Ball said to Orange County Register…
“Realistically you can’t win no championship with three white guys because the foot speed is too slow,” Ball said. “I told Lonzo – ‘One of these games you might need to go for 30 or 40 points.’ It turned out the that was the one game. Then once they get to the Elite 8, they’re right there.”
It’s hard to really explain how dumb this quote is for Ball. T.J Leaf is a first round NBA Draft pick, you putz. Thomas Welsch is a draft pick is in own right whenever he comes out of college. And the last guy is the coach’s son. So not only did Ball say something completely racist, he said something woefully wrong. And if you’re wondering, yes this is a racist comment. I know he has a white wife, but still, to bring race into a situation that doesn’t need it feels wrong to me. I’m sure others will see it differently. Yes, I realize three white guys don’t need a ton of help, but to imply three white men is the reason you lost a Sweet 16 is pretty bad. Hopefully, this shuts him up for awhile.
I’m back on my Bell hiatus until I can’t be.
