Martellus Bennett Isn’t About Dying On Football Field

News came out on Monday morning when New York Jets rookie Jamal Adams and new Jets veteran Morris Claiborne both made separate comments about ‘dying’ on the field. Some found it troubling, and honestly, that’s people in 2017 more than anything else. It’s a figure of speech talking about your dedication towards the game, rather than what people took it in the literal sense. Well as you can imagine, Green Bay Packers tight end Martellus Bennett had some thoughts and he’s not about dying on the field.
I hope All these young cats that are willing to die for the game of football find a higher purpose in life.

Here’s the thing – I get what Bennett is saying about this about football being a secondary thing of life, but I also understand what Adams/Claiborne are saying too. There are only a few section of people who are NFL players, and many would die for the opportunity. Forget the brain injuries and all that for a second and view it from the player’s sense. Bennett made great steps in his life to figure out a path after football. I do think all players should find something they love after football even if it’s simply coaching the youth or college. NFL isn’t a long career, and no one is dying on the field you’d hope.
