The Masters Are Set To Begin Amid The Unknown

Heading into Thursday, it looked like we would have finally have all of the premier golfers under one roof. No one golfer was hurt, although a few are scuffling currently. This all changed Wednesday afternoon when best golfer in the world Dustin Johnson fell down a flight of stairs in his rental home in Augusta, Georgia and hurt his back. He’s very questionable for this afternoon. We will wait nearly the whole day to see Johnson tees up in hopes of his first Green Jacket and a great comeback story.
It’s so crazy that this happened on this week. Any other tournament, and Johnson is probably chucking the deuces heading home to get his back worked on. But with it being August, he’ll do everything in his power to make this tournament. I’m not sure his back will holdup for 18 holes along with the next 18 on Saturday. The turnaround time for Johnson is tough having to play in the mid-afternoon on Thursday then back out there again on Friday morning. The risk might be too high and further hurt Johnson screwing up the rest of his calendar.
As they get set to tee off, I was going to take Johnson to win it. Since he’s likely not going to be a factor, I like Jason Day. It’s out of left field, I know, but Day’s mind is finally right and plays the course very well. He could get frustrated with the bad weather and derail his round. My surprise cut is Jon Rahm. I like him, but he’s burning out heading into this tournament. My sleeper is Daniel Berger. Unknown to the non-golf world, but a good one to those that follow.
Charlie.
