Moustakas, Yes. Harvey, No for the Brewers

Milwaukee Brewers are linked to all the players in trade talks this week. We are a week away from the trade deadline, and the expectation is the Brewers will make some legitimate moves before it’s all said and done. Brewers fans had some excitement on Monday night when the Minnesota Twins removed both Eduardo Escobar and Brian Dozier from the lineup yet nothing happened there. The two latest names to be entered into Brewers’ consideration are Mike Moustakas and Matt Harvey. Fan of one, not a huge fan of the other.
Sources: #Brewers have considered possibility of acquiring Mike Moustakas and moving Travis Shaw to 2B, but pitching may become the more urgent priority following Suter injury. @MLBNetwork @MLB

Brewers would apparently be interesting in Moustakas and keep him at third base where he’s a damn good infielder then push Travis Shaw over to second base. Brewers’ infield would be filled with offense and not much defense. It’s been the case since Orlando Arcia has been in Triple A. He crushed 19 home runs with a .247 average on the season and an OBP a bit north of .300. He’s a strong player and would be a welcomed edition to the Brewers order. It’s not a crazy idea to put Shaw at second base, but I do wonder how he feels about getting moved from a position he’s been pretty good at for the last couple years.
Talked to some executives, and the #Brewers and #Mariners came up as potential fits for Matt Harvey. I heard they’ve inquired. But there are a lot of other starting options out there. https://t.co/Yohnkvw87s

Harvey is an interesting subject. Personally, I like the idea of Derek Johnson rebuilding Harvey into a stud pitcher, but I like him doing it in Spring Training. I’m not opposed to the Brewers exploring the idea of Harvey in 2019. As a trade prospect, I’m unsure of giving the Reds a cheap prospect or two for him. He’s not been that great this season. He’s very bad against lefties, and even though he pitched well for the Reds, the underlying numbers tell a different story with him. I’m not ready to go all-in on the idea of Harvey playing for Milwaukee this season.
This is only the start of Brewers’ trade news.
