NBA Draft Lottery Results Do Not Truly Impact Bucks
Milwaukee Bucks could have seen some big names in the Central Division if the NBA Draft Lottery broke in a certain way. There would have been something cool about seeing Zion Williamson four times a year or playing against Ja Morant on a regular basis. That did not happen though. Instead, New Orleans and Memphis received the top two picks whilst Cleveland, a Central Divison foe, will be picking fifth in the draft lottery. As for the Chicago Bulls, they own picking seventh and will do so again in June. We saw the death of tanking last night and the fallout from it next year should be interesting.
Now, things could change and we could see either team make a power play to the top yet it’s highly unlikely considering how much people love both Williamson and Morant. A part of me wanted to see these guys in the Eastern Conference. There are rumblings of players like Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, and Kyrie Irving all playing next year in the Eastern Conference, but the younger generation will not be with them for this year. That is somewhat of a bummer. Although besides the New York Knicks, I did not really expect an Eastern Conference team to get Williamson.
For the Bulls and Cavaliers, they’ll try to rebuild their teams further along. Chicago might be close. If they actually had a real-life coach, I think they could be a fringe playoff contender, because they have similar vibes as Brooklyn did two years ago. Getting a player like North Carolina’s Coby White could help things. Cavaliers have a long way to go. They have money issues from LeBron, they probably need to trade Kevin Love and are probably at least a year or two away from having a strong team in the post-LeBron era. ta
