Packers Excitement Meter: Rodgers Awakes from Slumber

Aaron Rodgers faced a great deal of criticism for the way he played this season. Rodgers took the brunt of fans’ anger around him due his lack of playmaking abilities. He served a reminder to those haters on Sunday afternoon. In a game that was meaningless to some, Rodgers came through with his best performance of the year shredding the Jets defense up and down the field for a truly stellar performance. Green Bay avoids the winless road record, and they’ll try to end the season winning two straight games. Something they haven’t done all season.
Category Five Excited: Aaron Rodgers – Like mentioned, the dude was a baller yesterday. For some many bad plays over the year, Rodgers made up for it with a memorable afternoon. Rodgers had 442 yards on 37 of 55 with a passer rating of 103.7. The premier quarterback found nine different receivers, and four receivers had 5 or more receptions. For all the bad stuff we’ve said about Rodgers this year (Truth be told, he has been mediocre), he came through with a massive game. Don’t write his eulogy yet.
Category Four Excited: Jamaal Williams – Here’s a guy who basically got kicked to the curb by Packers fans midway through the season. Fans bashed Williams because he wasn’t as good as Aaron Jones. While that might be true, Williams showed his worth on Sunday. He had 90 yards on 15 carries including a touchdown plus Williams had six catches for 61 yards. A part of me wonders if Mike McCarthy used him the wrong way, and Joe Philbin might have unlocked some positive things about him. (FYI: Davante Adams was fucking awesome too)
Category Three: Tony Brown – Again, Brian Gutekunst made some positive moves with undrafted free agents. I know that people sour on those due to Ted Thompson overusing them, but there were some gems too. Brown and Tyler Lancaster seem like those gems for the 2018 season. Brown did well in coverage yesterday filling in for Jaire Alexander. He handled his own and looks like a player out there. Packers are shoring up their secondary more and more which gives you some hope. Brown is a stud out there.
Category Two: Injuries – Always an issue, but these are the weeks where you hate seeing people get hurt because yes, it doesn’t mean much. Alexander went out with a groin injury which kept him out for a couple games. Lane Taylor also left with an injury. Equanimeous St. Brown got rocked late in the game and tested for a concussion. There’s a good chance that Alexander, St. Brown and Taylor will all miss next week.
Category One: Ron Zook – I’m so mad that Ron Zook has a fucking job still this season. Packers special teams have been one of the worst units I’ve ever seen in professional football. Zook’s special teams fucked up in every category. Fumble on kickoff returns, gave up a kick return for a touchdown, let a fake punt happen, Zook’s special teams had it all.
Charlie.
