Packers Should Be Involved in Amari Cooper Trade Talks

Green Bay Packers offense needs a shot in the arm. You can pick and choose why this team hasn’t hit their peak yet through six games. Some might go with Aaron Jones needs the rock more. Joe Philbin is calling plays using the Magna Carter. Davante Adams is the only receiver worth a damn, and they need more on the outside. Trade talks are starting to bubble and could Amari Cooper interest a team like the Packers? According to reports, Cooper is on the trade block, and the Packers could potentially be looking for another playmaker.
If the Packers were going to look during the trade deadline, you would hope it’s for a pass-rusher. But the numbers show Gren Bay is finding ways to the quarterback. The defense is young and probably making too many mental mistakes yet the offense is putting more pressure on the young team. They’re settling for field goals versus touchdowns. Even though Mason Crosby cost the team a victory last week, it’s more on the offense for stalling out around the 20s versus punching it in the end zone. Adding a player like Cooper might alleviate some of those pains for the team whose relying on young receivers.
This might be an overreaction, though. Randall Cobb might be back this week, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown showed flashes last week and in a few weeks, preseason star Jake Kumerow could come back. That said, the receivers are struggling with route-running and simple combinations. The team might need another veteran in the receiver group to put them over-the-top. With Coop’s struggles this season, he will likely not garner much for former Alabama standout and worth the gamble.
We’ll see how the offense does against a weak Niners defense on Monday, and if they struggle again, it might mean action for the Packers front office.
