Rasul Douglas Returning Would Make The Packers Secondary An Elite Group

Rasul Douglas became a Green Bay Packers fan favorite overnight. That happened after his interception in the end zone against Arizona. That win was unpredictable and probably one of the best wins of the season. The legend of Douglas grew from there. He had back-to-back weeks with pick-six’s at home. With the near All-Pro season that Douglas had, it is fair for him to get paid by the league who saw his performance at the highest of highs this season. The veteran minimum will not cut it for Sul. But one of the biggest bright spots on the Packers’ season says it might not take much to keep him in Green Bay. We’ll see what his agent has to say about that.
Rasul Douglas says all it’ll take for him to be back with the Packers in free agency is for them to ask him to return.
Won’t it take a little more money than he made this season, though?
Douglas: “Probably a little bit more. Nothing crazy.”

And for those wondering if Sul is a flash in the pan, he played really well on Saturday too. Green Bay has an opportunity to be an elite secondary with Douglas, Jaire Alexander, and Eric Stokes. Add in Darnell Savage to that mix too even if he had an average season. Adrian Amos would complete this puzzle, but with Amos owed almost $11 million dollars next year, it’s hard for me to see a path for his return. He is really good and a team will benefit from him. Yet, I cannot see Green Bay bringing him back for his final year unless Amos takes less money.
If Douglas’s asking price is too high, so be it and we move on. He will be remembered for his great year as a Packers and will always be a guy that people remember. Maybe it’s the success of the team, but there are always random guys that outperform and make the season better. Sul was one of those dudes.
