Rodgers’ Trade Stories Are Nothing But Clickbait

Clickbait is a popular and overused term. People love to call things clickbait when they do not agree with the premise of something on the Internet. Although, there are times where people produce articles that are strictly for clicks and SEO traffic. Not to get too nerdy with you, but many clickbait articles serve the purpose of being easily searched on Google as well. Not surprising, the Aaron Rodgers clickbait machine happened after Jordan Love was drafted on Thursday night. We saw two writers do that with Aaron Rodgers and asking for a trade. One was way worse than the other. Both were truly pathetic.

Complex is not known for their football takes, but they should be fucking embarrassed. This is a pure clickbait, garbage article. All they’re trying to do is get fans of those teams to search ‘Patriots Aaron Rodgers’ then this dumb Rodgers’ column shows up. This is a pure swing and miss from the Complex NFL team, but I’m sure the intentions were not to be accurate at all. Rather, get the clicks, get the SEO, and hit your quota for the day. There is no rumor of Rodgers wanting out or asking for a trade. But they decide to play fantasy land like someone looking for their favorite type of porn on Pornhub.

Let’s be clear, ProFootballTalk’s post does a better job of trying to dance around the subject. It is not straight clickbait, but Mike Florio knows what he’s doing. The thing you have to remember with anything Florio-related about the Packers is that he is a Minnesota Vikings fan. He claimed that it doesn’t affect his work, but it does when writing about the Packers. As I pointed out to Florio, who likely has muted me, the real article is one paragraph long explaining how 2022 is when will see this all come to ahead. That’s the story, but it’s not that sexy.

These are going to keep coming all offseason and it’s my job as a Packers writer to call these out.
