SnotapWI Star Ratings: Green Bay Rolls Over Detroit In All Facets

Star ratings are the SnotapWI rating system to see who played well and who didn’t for the Green Bay Packers. The group of players is based on performance, but it is not only players. We can also look at position groups, broadcasters, coaches, and anything else that comes up during the game. It is not inclusive to the guys on the field. But those guys on the field had themselves a day winning 42-21. It is the largest Packers’ victory against Detroit since 2009 when they won by 22. That year Detroit did not win a game. I do not think that will the same this year.
FIVE STARS
Aaron Jones – What a game from Aaron Jones. He is really special. The numbers were absurd yesterday with 158 yards on the ground and 68 through the air. He had touchdowns both reciving and rushing. Jones made sure the stunna shades came with him from Minnesota to Green Bay.Last week, we talked about paying David Bakhtiari. And this week, it is all about paying Aaron Jones. He is not just a running back. Much like Alvin Kamara, you’re paying a guy to do several things from the running back position. Is he worth as much as Kamara? No. But Packers can find a way to pay Jones.
FOUR STARS
Chandon Sullivan – Many people including me wondered why Tramon Williams didn’t get a contract with the Packers. While I liked what Chandon Sullivan showed in the past, it seemed a bit risky to put him out there at nickel corner. That’s why I’m on my couch, and Brian Gutekunst has an office at Lambeau. Sullivan was great today at the nickel corner position. He had an interception returned for a touchdown along with two pass deflections. Green Bay’s secondary is a strength of theirs.
THREE STARS
An empty Lambeau Field – On one hand, it is still watching Packers football. On the other hand, the emptyness of the Packers’ stadium was a true bummer. The City of Green Bay banned tailgating as well, so, to the see the emptyness outside was equally weird. Most of the time when watching you don’t realize it. But every now and again, there is a moment where the fans would have been awesome to be there such as the long Jones’ run for the touchdown.
TWO STARS
Packers’ defensive line – At first, it looked like this would be a one star rating for certain. It still might be when it’s all said and done. They’re not much without Kenny Clark. Green Bay fixed their run defense issues in the second half for two reasons. One, they were up by a significant amount forcing Detroit to pass the football. Two, they used mostly linebackers and just Kingsley Keke. Depending on Clark’s injury, Packers giving Snacks Harriosn a call would not surprise me.
ONE STAR
Jace Sternberger – This offseason, there were a lot of us that thought Jace Sternberger was poised for a breakout year. After what we saw from him in the postseason, it seemed like Sternberger was the next great Packers tight end. As it happens often with those kind of things, that did not work out so far. Sternberger dropped two easy passes on Sunday that would have resulted in first downs and 10+ yards. Don’t give up on him yet, but he is dealing with some growing pains.
