The first round of star ratings for the 2020 NFL season. For those that are new to the program and haven’t experienced Star Ratings, let me inform you of what they are. We grade the Packers on a star level that would be comparable to a restaurant or hotel. Last year, we did one player per rating, and this year, it is going to be a bit less rigid. The important thing is to talk about the different players that stood out during the game. There is a lot of love to go around for Green Bay’s first win of the season. Packers beating Minnesota, 43-34. Let’s see where everyone ranks.

FIVE STARS

Aaron Rodgers: It is hard to remember if we had any five-star performances from Rodgers last year. He deserves this one today. Rodgers played some of his best ball in a long time and put all of the haters on notice. He had 364 yards on 32 competitions with four touchdowns. Rodgers looked as dialed in as I’ve seen him in some time. This doesn’t feel like a one-time thing ever.

David Bakhtiari – He will not get the credit that Rodgers does, but consider this, Minnesota is supposed to be known for their pass rush and they got to the quarterback zero times. That is all Bakhtiari and his offensive line. Bakhtiari kept Yannick Ngukwae in check the entire game and anyone else they threw at him. There is a reason he is one of the best in the game. Now, it’s time for #PayBak

FOUR STARS

Davante Adams – Hear me out on this one. Davante was awesome. He played at an awesome high level and definitely at a five-star level. But when we’re doing this typically, it needs to be near perfect, and with Adams drop of a touchdown, I cannot give him the five stars. Regardless, this is a great game from Adams. He had 12 catches, 154 yards, and two touchdowns. He toasted all of the young cornerbacks that Minnesota threw at him.

Jaire Alexander – What a game for Jaire. He had an interception and got a safety on a blitz that wasn’t supposed to be a blitz. The interception was a huge part of the game though. Packers were only up one at that point and were struggling to get to the end zone. Alexander forces the Kirk Cousins turnover and gives Milwaukee a chance to add to their point total. It changed the makeup of this game.

THREE STARS

Marques Valdes-Scantling – Last year, Kevin King was the best at giving me three-star games. He would do some great things then fall apart somewhere else. Valdes-scantling might take the role from King. He had some great moments int his one then a couple of drops that shouldn’t happen. Rodgers kept going back to him which shows his leadership and also his desire for MVS to be great. He wanted to show that the drops didn’t immediately mean he lost his trust.

ONE STAR

Darnell Savage – Despite all the great stuff from the Packers on Sunday, Darnell Savage had a rough day at the office. He got beat on an Adam Thielen touchdown where the Vikings receiver snuck behind him in a zone. He also got a bad penalty late in the first half. Hopefully, this is just one bad one that we all can have in our profession.

Chris Myers and Greg Jennings – Holy shit, this broadcast team is bad. Pretty sure they’re calling our game next week too which will make more thankful for Al and Cris in Week Three. Myers called Aaron Rodgers ‘Brett Favre’ at one point. He also added up the score totally completely wrong. Jennings didn’t same anything inflammatory, he just felt all over the place. It didn’t seem like he prepped for this at all.
