Tampa Bay Field Goal Miss Ends Packers’ Year

All of the sudden, there seemed like a window of opportunity for Green Bay to stay alive in the playoff hunt. Atlanta led Tampa Bay by three points, but Buccaneers had a chance to drive down the field with one minute left. It seemed like maybe fate would give Green Bay another chance, yet it did not happen. Tampa missed a long field goal at the buzzer to end the Packers season just like that. I cannot believe it’s over, but at the same time, it’s probably a good thing for all of us.
I ranted a little bit on Periscope last night, but in reality, this is going to be cathartic for everyone in the franchise from Mark Murphy to the youngest Packers fans. This will hurt us all, but at the end, it’s a wakeup call for Green Bay. They’ve gotten by the skin of their teeth for almost too long at this point. 2013-2015-2016 and finally, there was not enough magic for the team. They had to rely on a shit Tampa team to keep them alive, and it almost fucking happened!
Now, it’s over in the regular season for the first time since 2008. They were 4-1 in the middle of October. The sky was the limit for this team. This should have been a bareknuckle fight with Minnesota for the right to win the NFC North on Saturday night. Then instead, it’s an absolute snooze of a game. Vikings are still fighting for a chance at a bye and possibly homefield advantage. Packers may trot out Brett Hundley again for a sacrificial lamb based on what we hear today or tomorrow.
This is going to be a bitter pill to swallow, and it’s going to take awhile to get over yet it’s going to get better. Here’s a little optimism… they’re going to get an easier 2018 schedule and a better draft pick.
Charlie.
