What’s On Packers’ Offense Priority Offseason List?
Green Bay Packers are into offseason planning. People have many ideas for what the team should do this offseason. Everyone likes to play the role of armchair GM. Hell, I do it too. It is part of being a sports fan. And people who write for the Packers need to produce content daily. But when it gets down to it. What are the most important things for the Packers to look at this offseason? Even though the Packers are 13-3, there are things to improve all over the field.
1. Wide Receiver – In a surprise to no one, this is the top spot that has importance for the Packers. It is likely the Packers will take care of this in the draft considering it is a loaded receivers group. Although, there are guys available in the free agency and trade market as well.
2. Offensive Line – This is a big one for me. Bryan Bulaga is a free agent. Billy Turner had an up-and-down year at right guard. Corey Linsley did not have a great year at center either. Packers could explore several options here. Part of me thinks they want Bulaga back, but I also think they’re going to try to find an Elgton Jenkins-like draft pick to play right tackle.
3. Running Back – Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones are both free agents in 2021. A case could be made to not re-sign Jones depending on the price. Green Bay needs to reload at that position through the draft. Dexter Williams, while I like him, I don’t think he’s the answer.
4. Tight End – I’m not entirely in on the idea that the Packers need to add a free agent tight end. 100 percent out on drafting another tight end as most need a year of seasoning before they can play for the team. The reason for not being gung-ho about a tight end is Jace Sternberger. As mentioned on the blog and the podcast, Sternberger is my guy to go all-in with and have a huge season.
5. Quarterback – Some people are banging the drum that the Packers need a quarterback, and I’m not there yet. If they trade for Josh Rosen? Fine, I’m cool with it. Green Bay goes out and signs Marcus Mariota, cool. Drafting a quarterback in round five or six works out for me too. Now, if they go into the season with Tim Boyle again, that’s okay with me. But this is probably the last year that I’m okay with it.
What’s your list? Packers might see it very differently than I do. Stay tuned later today for the defensive and special teams’ priority list.
