When Getting Mad About NBA Aggregation Goes Wrong

In the NBA world, aggregation happens all the time. There are some Twitter and Instagram accounts where they take quotes mostly out of context from different articles. People get mad about it, and it’s a whole thing. Bill Simmons and Ryen Russillo always joke about the aggregators taking their content and making it into something it is not. But there’s nothing funnier when someone gets mad about a dumb article in the first place. One that they’re writing for clicks and attention versus making an actual point then getting aggregated? That is a rock in a hard place. Let’s take Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report. He gets annoyed that Bucks fans are yelling at him about a suggestion about Giannis Antetokounmpo that got taken out of the context from his wildly out of bounds article.
My Warriors piece from last week has been freshly aggregated, naturally without full context, so woke up to a few hundred angry mentions from Bucks fans

Here’s the column…
Latest @BleacherReport Would LeBron Take a Pay Cut for Giannis? LA's Superteam Dream Might Require Ithttps://t.co/fNzCVUmxrX

Pincus is a Lakers fan. That should be noted. He takes Giannis’ comments out of context. Antetokounmpo made an off-hand comment about Los Angeles with his brother Kostas being there. Pincus says that LeBron would need a pay cut to bring Antetokounmpo to L.A. without even thinking about the roster construction and many other dumb things. He also calls it a ‘Warriors piece.’ It is not that. Rather, it’s a Lakers fanboy dream piece veiled a fun cap construction scenario! Not a soul is pegging Giannis to Los Angeles yet he thought this is worth a column on Bleacher Report. Why? Because it will bring clicks. People will search this shit. Eric and his editors are not dumb. Therefore, it’s hilariously ironic that he gets mad people took the part about Andrew Wiggins and Warriors using for some dumb Bucks trade out of context.
Or maybe he is mad that people aren’t talking about this bizarre Giannis column? They’re talking about this one line about the Warriors. He also mentioned New York, Miami, and Toronto. Those are all legitimate options for Antetokounmpo in 2021. Not Los Angeles, so I understand he’s upset that people aren’t talking about his Lakers.
