Star players rarely get into the mud. Most of the time, they do not want to deal with the stress and criticism. But sometimes, the athletes become more than just an athlete as we have heard from LeBron James. Aaron Rodgers is showing some of that leadership right now with the CBA. He appeared on ESPN Wisconsin’s Wilde and Tausch’s show covering a wide range of topics, but most notably the CBA. Rodgers showed why he is the player rep and wasn’t afraid to call out some of his teammates for not doing the research.

Some people took that as him looking like a jerk, but honestly, isn’t everyone else the asshole? I know Rodgers is Teflon for most of us, yet the players need to held accountable. This is on the team app (Think of like NFL players Slack) where they can communicate and talk to each other. Players deciding not to care about what their future looks like is every stereotype you read about athletes especially football players. Rodgers has enough respect and credibility in that locker room to air out his players to get the expected reaction.

This will paint a picture of Rodgers, not well-liked or something dumb like that. People jump to conclusions with him and how people think of him. I’m not sure how that happens so often. Maybe since he is such a big figure in our sports life and since Rodgers doesn’t shy away from sharing his opinion, it leads to that. But players aren’t going to rebel against him. Hell, there were stories this week from Aaron Jones about Rodgers takes care of his teammates time and again with shoes and other gifts.

With Rodgers being in front of the CBA negotiations makes me wonder if he will run for political office someday. He seems the right kind of guy to do that and handle that pressure.
