Former Green Bay Packers linebacker Blake Martinez met with the media on Monday afternoon. Martinez had a lot to say about the Packers and how they used him. He seemed to be upset with how the Packers utilized their middle linebacker position. He took a flame to the bridge between him and the Packers and lit the whole thing on fire. What Martinez does not seem to realize is the Packers were trying to help him and make his job easier. Yet he decides to trash the organization for some unknown reason. The heel turn from Martinez was unexpected.

There is nothing worse in life when people make excuses for why they suck at something. We’re all guilty of it. Some of us tell our significant others or friends, others tell the New York media. For Martinez to throw his defense directly under the bus was fucking disappointing. He made it out to seem that no big plays were his fault. Meanwhile, Martinez couldn’t cover a statue if asked to on the football field. Don’t give me that shit. The former sixth-round draft pick is a good run-stopper, occasional blitzer, and that’s it.

Also, the idea of not having the ability to freelance seems interesting to me. Does Martinez think he is Luke Keuchly or Ray Lewis? Martinez knows that he is average at best, right? I liked him when he came out of Stanford and his rookie season. But it drives me crazy when individuals cannot seem to grasp reality when it is right in front of them. To trash, Mike Pettine is an odd move. There is no guarantee where Martinez’s career ends up and who knows, maybe there would be a great opportunity to reunite with Pettine down the road. Now, that is dead and buried.

We will see this season with a new-look middle linebacker crew if Martinez is right or if he was the reason for those restrictions.
