Boogie Cousins Goodbye To Sacramento Is Heartbreaking

DeMarcus ‘Boogie’ Cousins had a going-away party tonight in Sacramento where he said goodbye to his close friends, and he was moved to tears. This isn’t surprising. He’s an emotional dude who genuinely loved the city that drafted him. Sure, the NBA is business like any other professional sport, but this truly shows the relationship between the player and city. Like how many videos and tweets can Sacramento fans take? This is like the final nail in the coffin.
My friend got transferred to another city because of his job. He had some things to say. Rough to watch. pic.twitter.com/iBRyMf1UP7

Like people give Boogie all this shit about the player he is and how he’s a problem child on the court. But he’s done great things for the community throughout his time with Kings. People can’t take that away from him. Say all you want about the negative things that happened during his tenure, but he had a God-honest great relationship with the people who paid to see him play night and night out. Even though there were pain points, I can’t imagine what’s going through Boogie’s mind currently. He gets to play with new teammates and a fresh start, but it all happened so quickly.
Let’s hope that the smear campaign of Cousins doesn’t start today because it would be in poor taste, and everyone with half a brain can see right through what will go on if it does occur. Boogie may not have been the best player at times, but the best is yet to come. There’s a reason it took Zach Randolph and Rasheed Wallace a bunch of teams to figure their shit out. Sometimes, teams/owners don’t let players mature on the court leading to overreactions.
Charlie.
