BrewCap: Chase Anderson’s Hot Streak Continues

Tonight was a beautiful night at Miller Park. They had dogs in right field, and the game resulted in a Brewers victory. For the first time in a long while, Brewers did not lose a second straight game. That’s an encouraging sign. They won 5-2 with one big inning, and Chase Anderson keeps dominating on the mound for Brewers. People behind us asked if he was an ace of the team, and I scoffed in my head yet in reality, he’s starting to look like that… I guess?
Player of the Game (Brewers): Chase Anderson (P) – After looking like he would come off the rails, Chase Anderson started dominating bats again. Anderson went 7.2 innings with 110 pitches of zero run baseball along with four strikeouts and six hits allowed. Giants did not really put up a fight against Anderson who dazzled on the mound. In his last three starts, Brewers righty has went 21.2 innings, 10 hits allowed, 22 strikeouts. Pretty damn good.
(Not) Player of the Game: Carlos Torres (P): Carlos Torres needs to fucking leave Milwaukee tomorrow. He’s a mess. Torres got the last batter out in the eighth but struggled again in the ninth. He gave up three hits, two runs in only .3 of an inning. Torres could not get a batter out leading to Corey Knebel being needed again. It’s time for a chance.
Player of the Game: Eduardo Nunez (3B) (Giants): Not much from Giants tonight, but I did want to give Eduardo Nunez a shout for a great play at third base where he snagged a ball out of thin air. Nunez also added three hits tonight.
Positive: Two Out RBIs are good things – Like what we saw from Brewers lineup when it came to the two-out RBI’s. Eric Sogard, Domingo Santana and Anderson all drove in their runs with two outs in the inning. The only run that did not come with two outs was Hernan Perez’s big fly in the second inning. That’s not always the Brewer way so I’m glad it happened tonight.
Positive: They’re all good dogs, Brewers – I loved Brewers dog event and I didn’t have a dog there. I did not sit in the stands where the dogs were located, but the in-game stuff Milwaukee did made sure we saw enough dogs in attendance. I don’t know if we need a full Bark at the Park, but Brewers did enough to show us all the very good dogs.
Next up: Brewers will send Jimmy Nelson to the mound after his great outing against Los Angeles on Friday. We’ll see if he can keep it up against another West Coast team. Giants will go with Ty Blach who dazzled last time out as well going the distance in a complete game shutout. That said, he was awful on the road prior to that start so let’s see which pitcher we’re getting tomorrow.
