Last night’s Milwaukee Brewers game was a weird one. It’s the first game back from the All-Star Break, therefore, you would expect some rust, but the Brewers couldn’t afford that. They’re now three games back from the Chicago Cubs, and tied for the Wild Card with the Atlanta Braves. Brewers lost again on Friday night with a 6-4 defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers where the Brewers came close but couldn’t capitalize in a disappointing outing at the ballpark. Their losing streak is now seven staring down Clayton Kershaw on Saturday night… Gulp.

Player of the Game: Kike Hernandez – Even though he had only one hit, Hernandez made a huge impact here. Los Angeles led by one run in the ninth inning, and Brandon Woodruff needed to get one more out to give Milwaukee a chance to win versus the very tough Kenley Jensen. Instead, Hernandez had other ideas launching a home run to deep center that Lorenzo Cain could not come up with it. That’s how it’s going right now for the Crew.

Silver Star: Christian Yelich – Gotta love DJ Yella. After an awesome All-Star Game, Yelich started the second half with a bang. He had two doubles, a triple, a stolen base and three runs driven in. Mind you, this was against a lefty with Rich Hill as the starter. Yelich, like the Honey Badger, he doesn’t give a shit. Yelich played great and gave his team a chance to win the game.

Honorable Mention: Wade Miley – So… Is Wade Miley not bad? Like he’s showed some signs in Spring Training, and he might be okay for the team. We’ll see about that as we go on this second half. Miley did a great job. He pitched really well through six innings only allowing four hits, and the run scored was unearned. Miley only walked two batters which is usually an issue for him.

Next up – Here we go. Kershaw goes for Los Angeles, and Milwaukee has done okay against him especially Ryan Braun who is 10-for-33. He will come off the disabled list today. Chase Anderson goes for Milwaukee. He needs to keep his control in the first inning. The ERA is sky high in the first then he’s been fine the rest of the way. Hopefully, he figures it early on because Los Angeles can jump on him quick, and you do not know want to spot him with a lead.
