Milwaukee Brewers started their most important series of the year. They took on the St. Louis Cardinals for five games in three days. Milwaukee played St. Louis in two games on Monday then two more on Wednesday with one sandwich in there on Tuesday. It is a sprint and something teams have dealt with all season with COVID-19. Hell, Philadelphia and Miami are playing a seven-game series right now. Brewers responded from their no-hitter with a walk-off sacrifice fly by Keston Hiura.

Player of the Game: Josh Lindbloom – Even though he didn’t factor into the decision, what a game from Josh Lindbloom. He struggled mightily during his first season with the Brewers and after a week or two in the bullpen, Lindbloom looked much better. He went five strong with six strikeouts and three hits allowed. No blowup innings for Josh in this one. With the unknown of Brett Anderson, Lindbloom may get another start this weekend.

Honorable Mention: Ryan Braun – Even though Hiura had the game-winning hit, Ryan Braun did it again in the clutch. Braun hit a big double to tie the game after St. Louis grabbed the 1-0 lead in the eighth inning. The ability for Braun to be clutch is something else. The dude lives for moments like this one. It is too bad that his back is impacting him from being out there every day.

One Thing to Not Like: Brewers held scoreless in nearly two straight games – Rough stuff from the offense. Just when you think things are fixed, the Brewers start to turtle. The offense looked lost against Kwang Hyun-Kim. That’s surprising considering how well the Brewers hit against lefties in the last few weeks. Things were way worse in Game 2 which will talk about later today.

One thing to like: Josh Hader had a nice bounce-back outing – Besides the win, a positive from this one was Josh Hader finding his stuff again after how bad he pitched on Saturday. Hader did not give up a hit and struck out two batters with only 13 total pitches. Hader seems to have a short memory this year. He hasn’t blown in back-to-back games since probably last August which is encouraging.
