Chargers Make The Puzzling Move To Los Angeles
San Diego Chargers are latest National League Football franchise to pack up their moving trucks and head elsewhere. Chargers will not be moving far as they will be yet another team Los Angeles. The L.A. Chargers will probably play in StubHub Center, known for soccer, not football, and they will move there despite the league not wanting them to go north plus San Diego proposing a brand new, non-taxpayer stadium. Dean Spanos pulled an all-time snake move, and it’s going to be a massive fail.
Los Angeles has two sports teams for every professional sport currently. It’s absurd. People believe that the city can handle two NFL teams. That’s a luducious thought when the team who moved their last year, Los Angeles then St. Louis Rams, took a shit all over their new fan base with a 4-12 record. Chargers aren’t much better. They haven’t found the glory from years ago with Phillip Rivers, Ladanian Tomlinson and Antonio Gaters. Spanos are among the cheapest owners in sports, and this move is one to line their pockets as my assumption is they will sell the team to an interested L.A. buyer. It makes zero sense to me to leave a good thing with a decently loyal fanbase who couldn’t stand paying to watch football at a shit stadium.
Chargers don’t have a built-in fanbase in Los Angeles. Rams had that from years being there. LA Chargers were a thing, but in the days when porn was still found magazines, not the internet. Spanos knew he couldn’t sell the team in San Diego even with a new stadium. Los Angeles carries big time money, and someone is going to unload the Brinks truck to buy this team. This ownership group continually shows little compassion for their fans and does whatever makes the most sense from a financial standpoint.
The tweet above might be the most fucked up thing of this whole scenario. San Diego becomes the number one destination for teams? What? I’ll puke if there’s a team called ‘San Diego Raiders.’ I’m trying to think what team could possibly be itching for a move. It’s hard to come up with one truly that’s fallen on hard times. All of this moving shows the lack of leadership by Roger Goodell and his team. A firm commissioner puts his foot down and doesn’t allow something like this to happen. Instead, teams are taking interest from cities like this is Tinder for franchises.
Long live the San Diego Chargers from The Arnold quote to Kellen Winslow get carried off the field.
