Future Cashing Dem Checks & I’m Not Mad At Him

Future is mainstream on the internet and in the hip-hop community especially the latter. I remember when I worked at a radio station years ago, Future sold out the lower part of The Rave. It was a wild show, and one of the better ‘I was there’ moments for me. He rocked it. The Atlanta rapper had two huge years, and now, he’s ready to wet the beak a little bit (Shouts to PMT). I don’t hate it. People will say he went Sellout Spree on us, but sometimes, you have to strike while the iron is hot. You’ll start hearing Future a lot more on Top 40 radio as he’s featured with Maroon 5 and Ariana Grande.
Let’s start with Maroon 5. I like this song, I’m not going to hide from it. But Future’s verse is more mailed in than Donald Trump’s weekends. Song is dope, and they don’t need the hip hop element in their song. Adam Levine and Maroon 5 is in this weird phase like ‘Hip hop in everything we do!’ Related, Songs of Jane is still a flames album, and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise.
As for Ariana Grande song, it’s also pretty good, and Future does pretty well here (Sidenote: Ariana is on fiyahh in this video, you’re welcome). People might say this is the ‘end of his career’, but fuck that. Lil Yachty is doing goddamn Target ads, I think Future will be fine giving his voice to a couple pop artists. Hell, Kendrick Lamar gave everyone a verse for awhile there (Insert Tea Lizard).
Future is still cool, and if someone tries to act like he’s not, don’t believe em.
Charlie.
