Game 4 Isn’t a Must-Win For Milwaukee
Bucks fans are not good about losing in the year 2019. I get it. They didn’t lose often in the regular season, therefore, when they’re faced with a little adversity, things get tight for them. That’s why some including occasional contributor Nolan Murphy believe that tonight is a must-win for the Bucks. Milwaukee slipping down to a 2-2 deficit would be bad news for the Bucks moving forward with Toronto having all of the momentum heading back to the Fiserv Forum for a decisive Game 5. In reality, Bucks fans underestimated Toronto after Game 2, and they’re starting to get nervous that they put the cart before the horse leading to uncertainty about Game 4.
Milwaukee does not have to win this game. They really don’t. They lose tonight, and Raptors hold serve at home. Toronto has only dropped two games at home during the playoffs thus far, and they have steamrolled opponents in a few matchups. Milwaukee would have to lose four of five games to lose the series. That hasn’t happened all year, and why would it now? That said, it is not like the Bucks are underdogs tonight. Vegas put them at two-point favorites meaning they’re showing some confidence in a Bucks bounceback. There are factors to believe that the Bucks will win tonight but that doesn’t make it a given or a must that it absolutely has to happen tonight.
Bucks are a force when they lose a game. They take it personally when they lose basketball games. Milwaukee only lost back-to-back games once all season. The average margin of victory after Milwaukee losing a game the next night is the Bucks +13. They’re dominant the next game after losing, and the same goes for Giannis Antetokounmpo after a bad night. Look through his game logs, and you’ll see him not have two straight bad scoring nights. These are all the reasons why Vegas knew that to put Milwaukee as an underdog tonight.
All of that being said, Raptors could win this game. When this series started, there were some including myself who believed this to be a quick series. But things change as the series goes on. I’m not wavering on the Bucks tonight or the Bucks for the series, rather, knowing that there’s a chance that things could go south because Toronto is a good basketball team.
