Giannis Can Take His Time Coming Back to the Court

On Friday night, a friend of the program Murph and I watched the Bucks-Lakers at a bar that will surely be on SnoTapWI Bar Watch later this week. At the end of the game, Giannis went down in a heap. Things looked bad for the Greek Freak, and some in Bucks’ world freaked out. Everyone played their best version of being a Twitter doctor or a Reddit doctor (Personally, the Reddit Doctor is worse). Before Sunday’s game, it was revealed that Antetokounmpo suffered a minor joint capsule sprain in his knee. Antetokounmpo missed last night’s game in Phoenix and tomorrow against Denver. He may miss more time but that is yet to be known. Thankfully, he will be back sometime soon, and Bucks should be conservative as they can with him.
Right now, Milwaukee has an eight-game lead on the second seed. It is close to a lock as possible with less than 20 games left. Bucks do not need Antetokounmpo playing until he is absolutely ready and healthy. The most important thing for Giannis is to be fully healthy for the playoffs. Further, it could be a good thing that he gets some time off before the playoff begins. Yesterday was the first loss without Giannis, but Milwaukee managed fine without him in the past. The schedule is a bit rough, but Milwaukee is not going to lose their lead on the number one overall seed. Khris Middleton and the rest of the Bucks can carry the team for a few weeks. Mike Budenholzer needs to admit Marvin Williams is the starter, not Ersan, yet that’s another story for another time.
The only thing to worry about is if the Los Angeles Lakers get homecourt for the NBA Finals. Lakers are three back of the Bucks right now. Still, that is going to be a hill for them to climb. Lakers have been good all season, but they’re known to have a hiccup or two every so often.
Glad the Greek Freak is not too banged up and cannot wait to see him back on the court.
Charlie.
