Heat Making The Finals Should Take Some Sting Out For Bucks Fans

While the Green Bay Packers beat up on the New Orleans Saints, the Miami Heat made the NBA Finals beating the Boston Celtics in six games. The same Miami team that took down Milwaukee a few weeks ago. There is a cliche in sports where when you lose in the playoffs, it makes things a bit better losing to the best team. Think how anger Bucks fans would be if Boston beat Miami in five or six games and dominated in that series. It would feel like a massive missed opportunity. Instead, they ran into the hottest team in the bubble with a top-three coach who now has his team back in the finals. Bucks fans should feel a bit better about things than they did two weeks ago.
Miami is the best team in the Eastern Conference. Los Angeles is easily the best team in the Western Conference. Would this be the NBA Finals in a normal year? I don’t know. Honestly, it is hard to say. For as good as Miami has been in the bubble, they were not a great road team. The Heat were 14-19 on the road this season. If you want to be a hater about this thing, there is your angle. But Miami obviously unlocked something with their team from pandemic pause to the NBA bubble. It sucks that the Bucks ran into that freight train.
My buddy Eric called the Bucks ‘The Good Luck Chuck’ of basketball. If you don’t remember that horrendous Dane Cook movie, he dates girls then after dating them, they get married. Eric’s premise is that Bucks unlock something for these teams and they win the Finals while the Bucks do not. There is some bad luck in the last two years for Milwaukee without question. There was not a Miami-like team in the Western Conference this year. Toronto only happened because Kawhi hits a game-winner vs. Philly and the Bucks pissed away a shot at 3-0. There are some choose-your-own-adventure things with Milwaukee that could make things a lot different.
If you’re wondering who to root for, it’s Miami. LeBron James getting another title here would make things very annoying with the Giannis and LeBron debates. Can’t have it honestly and if Miami wins it, they’re just known as the hottest team in the bubble taking down both Giannis and LeBron.
