NBC, Brees, and Saints Are Make For An Awkward Media Trouple

NBC covered the New Orleans Saints game like they were the regional broadcast for the Saints. It was odd. Most Packers fans felt it. Mostly because NBC does such a good job with their coverage, it is rare to see them take an L. Typically, I hate the idea of ‘This network or these broadcasters are against my team.’ I fucking hate when people say that about Joe Buck, and the idea that people hate Buck has been played out since Trump vs. Hilary. For those that don’t know, NBC is hiring Drew Brees after he retires. When Brees is done, he will join NBC as an analyst. In the least surprising bit of news, NBC treated him with kid gloves on Sunday night and painted him out like he was fucking Homelander from The Boys or something.
If NBC cannot have a balanced approach and talk about the real issues with Brees’ arm right now then they should flex out any remaining Saints game. Of course, they will not do that. But it will be curious to see if Al Michaels approaches it differently when he likely calls the Saints-Buccaneers in a couple of weeks. Brees should not get special treatment from the network that already sign a deal. That’s not fair. It was nauseating to hear about what a good guy Drew is and seeing his kids’ flag football games back-to-back, give me a fucking break. Nice to see Richard Deitsch’s broken brain completely missed this yesterday. Nothing from Jimmy Traina either.
NBC tried to build back up his image after everything said in June in his first primetime game of the year. They could not have been more transparent with the move. Is this really a big deal? Nah. Is it annoying that we have to do this whenever Brees is out there? Yep.
Charlie.
