Packers Bring Christine Michael Back In The Fold
Many people wondered what Green Bay Packers were going to do at the running back position. Ty Montgomery is there, but the universal thought is they need at least one more running back to balance the load as Montgomery is still learning the position. They’ve added a power piece by bringing back Christine Michael. He returns to the team after playing the final games for this Packers team. He can have an impact with this roster and be the second piece of a three-headed attack for Packers.
Michael did not have enough attempts to really garner a true response on how he’ll fit with the team. Green Bay didn’t use him as much due to his lack of playbook knowledge. A number one pet peeve of the quarterback and the coach. My guess is Green Bay hopes he will spend this summer and training camp being a student of Mike McCarthy’s offense. Michael will get a chance to be the thunder to Montgomery’s lightning in this offense. Packers are likely not done at running back though.
Reports came out yesterday that they will not kick the tires on Adrian Peterson until after the NFL Draft. You can take that two ways – one, they’re interested enough in Peterson to keep him on a string, and two, they have a few running backs on their draft board which makes sense given how deep this draft is with running back skill. If Packers had a three-headed attack of Dalvin Cook (Mel Kiper Jr. recently mocked him here), Montgomery and Michael, Packers are a powerhouse at running the football.
Good to have Michael back, and hopefully, Packers get the right end of the running back swap between Seattle and Green Bay.
