Packers Excitement Meter: The Jaire Alexander Breakout Game

Green Bay Packers fell to the Los Angeles Rams, 29-27. Man, they were so close to knocking off the unbeaten Rams. We went over in the PackCap, but again, where you wonder ‘What if’ if Ty Montgomery just keeps the ball the end zone. There are also moments like the JK Scott weak punt, the play call that caused the safety, the offense stalling out for two field goals early on and many others. The reactions of the fans and media today will be interesting. Usually, people overreact with losses, but please listen to me when I say there was a lot to like in this game including Jaire Alexander.
Category Five Excited: Jaire Alexander – Welcome to Jaire Alexander’s coming out party. He’s having a good year. There’s no question about that for Jaire, but he showed up on the national stage on Sunday. He defended Brandin Cooks all game long. Cooks got the better of him two or three times, but nothing major. Alexander faced one of the best receivers in the game and shut him down. That’s entirely impressive as a rookie. He will face Josh Gordon next week and other major receivers in the coming months yet finally, Green Bay seems to have a corner.
Category Four Excited: Blake Martinez – I loved what I saw from Blake Martinez yesterday. He played the role of aggressor in both the pass coverage and stopping the run. Todd Gurley had a big day, but it was due to catching the football. Martinez did a great job on Gurley even if he sprung loose a couple times. The future is bright for Blake and think he could be a cornerstone part of this Packers team. He will be needed next week majorly as well. We only pick five players, but Kenny Clark deserves some love too. He was tremendous.
Category Three Excited: Aaron Jones – Packers are starting to figure it out with Aaron Jones. Yes, he only had 11 carries. But they were the most carries by a long shot with the next closest getting four. Jones still needs to be in the game on a more consistent basis. He nearly rushed for 100 yards and didn’t even have 15 carries. He’s the best running back that Green Bay has on its team. It’s about time they start feeding Jones on a regular basis. He’s an awesome back.
Category Two Excited: Jermaine Whitehead – We saw more of Jermaine Whitehead in the game to help mitigate the issues Kentrell Brice is having on the field. Whitehead and Brice could have done the Spiderman meme to each other. Whitehead isn’t much better than Brice. Rams spotted him in the second half and went to town on him.THat’s a big reason why Gurley ate in the second half.
Category One Excited: Ty Montgomery – This isn’t a shocker. Montgomery tried to be a hero and it failed. Once again, there is a goat as part of the Packers loss. I’m not talking about ‘The GOAT’ like Aaron Rodgers. Rather, a goat, a fuck up in the game. Washington, it was Randall Cobb. Detroit belong to Mason Crosby and this game will be Ty Montgomery. Awful decision-making.
