Packers Smartly Bring Back Tyler Ervin

Yesterday, the Green Bay Packers made a small free agency move. They announced that they’re bringing back Tyler Ervin to the roster. He signed a one-year deal. That was a great move by the Green Bay Packers. Ervin gave a jolt to the return game. After Packers struggled so much in the return game, Ervin gave them what they were looking for all season. He can do things in the return game and also be a force as a scatback with the Packers offense. Although, this shouldn’t rule out Green Bay adding a running back in the draft.
The Packers are expected to bring back RB/return man Tyler Ervin on a one-year deal. Ervin, who was acquired off of waivers mid-season in 2019, gave them a real boost in the return game.

Ervin gives the Packers a different option in the backfield. Aaron Jones can catch balls out of the backfield and get to the outside yet he’s not as fast as Ervin. Jamaal Williams is a punishing running back between the tackles. Green Bay can do a ton with Ervin off the edge with things like jet sweeps and other creative things. Like Marcedes Lewis, this was a no-brainer for the Packers to bring him back into the mix. Packers were a better team with Ervin on the roster.
This doesn’t mean Green Bay shouldn’t rule on a running back in the late rounds. Dexter Williams did absolutely nothing last year, and I don’t think he has much potential left in him. Jones is headed towards free agency as well as Williams, therefore, Green Bay needs to strengthen their running back room. Adding a fourth guy that you can put on the practice squad or the inactive list is not a terrible idea. Related, this is why it was so fucking dumb to even suggest the Packers should draft Jonathan Taylor.
