Only A Few People Watched LaMelo v. Zion Last Night

We don’t talk too much about high school basketball especially of the AAU variety, but the event of the summer took place very late last night in Las Vegas when you had LaMelo Ball’s team coached by LaVar facing off against internet sensation Zion Williamson. The arena was packed with people to point where they nearly shut down the game from happening, and LeBron James could not attend due to security concerns. It’s amazing to see that many for a high school game.

It’s awesome to see basketball have this amount of hype around it. I feel Zion is basically Noel Devine or Sam McGuffie of this generation. He makes some unreal plays that work perfect for YouTube and social media. People know his name because they probably watched a dunk highlight. He is better than the other players mentioned who were decent in their own right with football. We already know the story about LaMelo. I hated the narrative that LaVar ensured the crowd would be this big. I can’t think of any game, any place where you are going to watch a coach.
Both players are top recruits in their class. LaMelo is headed to UCLA like his brothers, and Zion is still unsure which college he will attend with all of the big schools after him plus the South Carolina insitutions that are trying to keep him inside their state.
