What Freddy Peralta is doing at the big league level is nothing short of amazing. He’s putting on a show for the first time being up in the Major Leagues. He debuted in Colorado with an amazing 13 strikeouts. After a shaky Minnesota start, Peralta came back a month later and dominated Pittsburgh and Kansas City. I cannot make too many arguments involving Peralta leaving the rotation. He almost has to, right?

Brewers are dealing a good problem to have at this point. They have eight legitimate starting pitchers right now for this ball club. Most teams only have two or three. Milwaukee has 8. The other good problem to have is there is no weak link in the starting rotation. Chase Anderson might be that guy, but he’s shown flashes of being decent. The Brewers have to decide what to do with Peralta, Wade Miley and Zach Davies.

Brewers have some options on the table here for how to figure out this pitcher conumdrum. The first is to move Davies to the bullpen and trade Miley to a team that could use a starter. Davies hasn’t been good this season. He’s struggled to find what worked for him in 2017. That said, I wouldn’t want to deal him. Another option is to send Peralta back down to the minors. I feel that would be so disappointing for everyone involved.

If the Brewers were to bring Peralta back to the minors, I hope the reason is pitch count. If Milwaukee knows they do not want Peralta to pitch a certain amount of innings, I’d rather him be put on ice now and be a massive addition to the team in September. I could get done with that, but Peralta is ready to win baseball games for this team right now.

It’s a joy to watch Freddy pitch and hope he can continue to do it in the big leagues.
