SnoTap Badger Preview: Wisconsin vs. Miami

Some people consider bowl games that aren’t the College Football Playoff a bad thing. I hate that sort of thing to be honest. Major bowl games are still something to be proud of as a college program. Wisconsin is playing in one of the six premier bowl games for the second straight year. That’s an awesome accomplishment. Miami is their opponent who could prove to be a challenge for Wisconsin on Saturday night.
Alex Hornibrook vs. the turnover chain
This is the matchup that I think will be on everyone’s radar. How can Alex Hornibrook avoid the big turnover against a Miami that loves to force turnovers. It’s important that Hornibrook starts off in rhythm and doesn’t try to do too much early on in this game. If he does, the turnover chain may be out early and often (PS it’s going to be awesome to see the hot takes from Wisconsin white guys about the chain).
Wisconsin’s defense can feast versus Miami
Even though Ohio State beat this Badger team with big plays, I don’t see the same sort of thing with Miami. Their offense stalled in the last two games of the season. They had multiple injuries throughout the year losing Mark Walton and Ahmmon Richards to injuries. There are some questions about Malik Rozier’s future at quarterback as well. All of this seems ripe for Wisconsin to have a field day. A Badgers defense that’s well-rested and ready to play is a scary one.
Jonathan Taylor ready for a bounce back
After a tough Big Ten championship, Jonathan Taylor is ready to have a final bowl game to launch his 2018 Heisman campaign. Miami’s defense is not going to be an easy one for Taylor, but that hasn’t stopped him in the past. Taylor needs 153 yards to break 2,000 for the season. It would be an amazing accomplishment for the freshman running back.
Prediction
I like Wisconsin here as -4.5 point favorites. Badgers are a very well-rounded team and showed they can hang with virtually anyone all season. Miami started leaking water at the end of the year, and I don’t really think they did anything to stop it. Wisconsin is the team who gets the turnovers and wins this game. UW 24-13
