Summerfest Brings The Chainsmokers To Town

Summerfest has been quiet for the last couple of weeks after their announcement of Tom Petty. As they continue to firm up their schedule, they announced what figures to be one of the bigger draws from a headliner in The Chainsmokers. This is a nice move by Summerfest as they pull one of the five biggest Top 40 artists out there for a show on the Fourth of July. It’s going to be an audience filled with bad marijuana and pulls of UV Blue from a suspicous water bottle. The Chainsmokers shouldn’t have an issue packing the place.
It’s incredible to see The Chainsmokers being a headliner at Summerfest. One of the cooler things about Milwaukee’s music festival is there are always bands or artists who start out on the side stages slowly working their way up. Some always stay at that level (Shouts to O.A.R.), and others never come back because it’s one summer of music for that artist. The Chainsmokers were performing in front of the packed house at the ULine stage when ‘Selfie’ came out. My buddies and I snuck in booze and partied our asses off that night with a raucous crowd. To take a step further, these guys performed at Lucid Lounge three years ago, and now, American Family Amphitheater.
Many people are unhappy with this selection, but I feel like I could write that about any Summerfest choice. I’ve seen enough EDM in my life from professional acts like Krewella to my buddy, ShayKenn, to say it’s a good time to being there if you want it to be. If you’re a single college human, the grass section will be full of kids dancing outrageously and disappointing their parents at the same time. I don’t know the merits of an actual seat for this concert. People love to complain about who comes to Summerfest, but more times than not, it’s not for you yet people cannot understand this concept.
