The Joe Buck Hate Doesn’t Exist Anymore

Joe Buck is making the NFL Hall of Fame. They announced it last night on the broadcast. It is a cool honor, and he deserves it. People immediately came out with the usual tropes about ‘Unpopular opinion alert! I don’t hate Joe Buck.’ That feels like a tweet that should be written in 2012 or 2013. The idea that people still don’t like Buck is pretty damn stupid. Most people turned a corner with him in the last few years. The idea of Buck and Troy Aikman calling your game holds some significant weight. While I’m sure Buck still has haters, it is not at the level it was years ago.
Unpopular Chicago opinion: Joe Buck is awesome at his job and I’m a fan. I hear his voice and I know it’s a big event.

Buck is a sports broadcasting icon. While I’m sure there are still some folks that dislike him, he showed himself to be a pretty awesome dude. If you listened to him on Pardon My Take, Bill Simmons, or his own podcast, he is a likable guy. What guy isn’t likable when he drinks a beer before the broadcast? Buck admitted that he had some issues early on with not being that excited about games and worked on them. He is a fantastic announcer that most sports fans recognize greatness.
It’s not unpopular anymore to like Joe Buck, rather, it’s the thing you should do. If you still dislike Buck, I’d love to hear the announcers you like.
Charlie.
