Tonight’s MECCA Game Is An MKE All-Timer

You ever have a situation in your life where you don’t understand the magnitude of the event? I feel like that’s what happened to me with the MECCA game. A part of me knew it would be a big deal. Hell, I sought after tickets and am fortunate enough to go tonight with the Tapping The Keg crew. But I didn’t know exactly how much it meant to everyone involved especially people who are a bit older than me. Win or lose, this promises to be an amazing night of basketball celebrating the city’s connection to the pro game and the sport itself.
What I love about this game is the Milwaukee Bucks are going all out for it. They’re wearing the classic uniforms, the floor will be the iconic MECCA look, and a general excitement is there from the players. Hearing Giannis Antetokounmpo talk about how he wanted to be like ‘Kareem’ was awesome. We can only hope that he might bust out a sky hook tonight against a Boston who already showed they cannot stop him. Hopefully, the game will be close because that small barn has been known to be very loud.
Like I said, I’m going tonight, and I’m very lucky. It’s one of the harder seats to get for a sporting event in Milwaukee, and one of the more expensive ones too. My last big Milwaukee/Wisconsin event was Game 6 of the National League Championship Series in 2011. This isn’t as big, but to say you saw the likely last NBA game to ever be played at the MECCA is pretty cool.
